This listing includes three 100% cotton bandanas, each naturally dyed using plant materials and printed with circle motifs created through mordant paste techniques. Every bandana is approximately 55cm x 55cm and entirely unique, made using slow, hands-on processes that highlight texture, variation, and the beauty of natural dyeing.
All three bandanas were dyed in small batches using plant-based colour. What remains is a set of soft, earthy tones paired with striking circular designs.
How They Were Made
One bandana features hand-applied alum mordant circles printed onto the cloth.
The other two were fully coated in alum mordant, and then circles were lifted away using citric acid, creating the reverse pattern.
These traditional resist and mordant-printing techniques create gentle, organic shapes and wonderfully imperfect edges.
Bandana Details & Expected Ageing
Beige Bandana
Soft beige background with alum-printed circles
Please note: Over time, the background colour may fade, leaving the circles more prominent, or standing alone. This is an expected outcome of this dye method and part of the bandana’s natural lifespan, not a flaw.
Brown Bandana
Rich brown base with lighter circular motifs
Please note: As the bandana ages, the colour inside the circles may soften or fade, allowing the background to become the dominant tone. This is an expected outcome of this dye method and part of the bandana’s natural lifespan, not a flaw.
Third Bandana (Mixed Tones)
A purple grey base with paler pink circular motifs
Please note: As the bandana ages, the colour inside the circles may soften or fade, allowing the background to become the dominant tone. This is an expected outcome of this dye method and part of the bandana’s natural lifespan, not a flaw.
Use these bandanas as:
●Neck or hair accessories
●Handkerchiefs or pocket squares
●Eco-friendly gift wrap or furoshiki
●Altar cloths or ritual textiles
●Sewing, quilting, or craft materials
●Everyday functional textiles with a botanical twist
Each piece will age, soften, and change, reflecting the nature of plant dyes and the life of the cloth itself. No two bandanas, and no two stages of their journey, will ever be the same.
A beautiful trio of naturally dyed accessories, perfect for those who love botanical colour, gentle imperfection, and the evolving character of hand-dyed textiles.
